Capacity Initiative deadline looms

There’s a Nov. 4 deadline for funding applications for the 2009-10 BC Capacity Initiative. And NmTC’s Gary Reith is there to help.

Gary Reith - NRG Business Development Officer“I am pleased to offer my help to any of our communities that wishes to submit a proposal. Please let me know,” said Reith, who is Naut’sa mawt Tribal Council’s business development officer.

Two Naut’sa mawt Tribal Council nations – Halalt and Snuneymuxw – each received $75,000 from the 2008 initiative.

Halalt developed its capacity to respond to referrals on land and resource issues and plans to implement a consultation process and tracking system in order to assist with land use and resource decisions.

Snuneymuxw’s funding was for continuing its comprehensive community planning process. The capacity gaps being addressed included:
• An opportunity to learn the basic planning concepts and theories for land management and resource development;
• Identify for the community what the appropriate education and training will be needed so that the community can prepare to reach its goals and objectives.

If your nation would like assistance, contact Gary Reith – 1-604-943-6712 or 1-888-382-7711 toll free or by email at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
