The focus will be on the economy as First Nation leaders from throughout BC gather in Nanaimo in late February.
The BC Assembly of First Nations is holding its fifth regional chief's special assembly at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre on Feb. 23-25.
The theme for the forum will be “Rebuilding our Economies and Repairing our Environment”.
“I am inviting all 203 Chiefs to come together to continue developing a BC economic plan,” said BC AFN’s Regional Chief Shawn (A-in-chut) Atleo.
He said he had also invited key First Nations leaders from other parts of the country to discuss inter-regional and inter-tribal trade. Members of the business and industry community and government officials have also been invited.
