Snaw-Naw-As Moving Forward

New houses at Snaw Naw asThe last residents have moved into the 30 new houses built late last year at Snaw-naw-as First Nation. Infrastructure work is nearly completed to ensure that future housing, as well as potential leased lands, will be serviced with sewer and water.

Debbie Baggott, housing coordinator, and Glenn Lawson of Lawson of Lawson Tessier and Associates, talked about the work he will be doing with Snaw-naw-as thanks to funding support from Naut’sa mawt Tribal Council.

Fundraising drives have already begun and Mitchell said he was working on a detailed proposal for the community facility to present to council.

Chief Dave Bob was the master-of-ceremonies at an Island-wide gathering of elders at Cowichan’s Siem Lelum gym in October. He is continuing the work to formalize similar regular gatherings.
